Ousmane Dembele fantastic performance got Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace that seal a win for La Blaugrana
Barcelona have won their last three La Liga games in a row and are just two points away from a second-place finish. Barça didn’t play their best game but were the better team on the night and scored three nice goals to continue the good run as they look to finish the season strong.
A Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace, a Memphis Depay goal, and a wonderful performance from Ousmane Dembele were enough for Barcelona on Tuesday evening as they earned a 3-1 win over Celta Vigo.
Barcelona weren't particularly impressive in the opening stages and almost went behind following some calamitous play from Ronald Araujo. The centre-back lost his footing when attempting a back pass to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, allowing Iago Aspas to steal in and run through on goal.
Just as Aspas was having a pop at goal however, Araujo made amends for his previous error to flick the ball away from the Spanish forward.
Barca finally woke up on the half hour mark and, with their first real attack of the game, took the lead. The goal came following some lovely play on the right flank from Dembele, who beat two men by the touchline before squaring the ball to Memphis . The Dutch international made no mistake with his subsequent shot on goal, coolly side-footing past Matias Dituro and into the net.
Celta Vigo threatened to score an equaliser just five minutes later, but Thiago Galhardo's curling strike from the edge of the penalty area was brilliantly tipped round the post by Ter Stegen.
That save proved to be pivotal for Barcelona who, after hanging onto their lead, went up the other end and doubled it in the 40th minute. Aubameyang was able to latch onto a loose ball inside the penalty area to sweep home his first of the game.
At the start of the second half, Aubameyang made it 3-0. Like the first goal, the third of the game came following some lovely play on the right flank from Dembele, who played the ball into the path of Auba, allowing the forward to sweep home his 11th La Liga goal since joining Barca.
It wasn't 3-0 for long however, as Celta went straight up the other end to reduce their arrears about two minutes later. After some seriously sloppy play from Ter Stegen and Araujo, Galhardo was able to play the ball into Aspas on the edge of the six-yard box. The forward made no mistake after controlling the ball, flicking the ball under the Barcelona number one.
Following the goal Celta Vigo actually began to dominate proceedings, keeping hold of the ball well and pinning La Blaugrana back in their own half...until they were caught on the break and Jeison Murillo got himself sent off for pulling down Memphis when he was clean through on goal...then they stopped dominating.
There was a lengthy delay in play on around the 70th minute mark, when Gavi and Araujo clashed heads when both going up to win the ball in the air. Gavi got up soon after, but Araujo was forced off with his ailment - being taken off in an ambulance.
When play resumed, substitute Riqui Puig found the back of the net for Barca - following more great play from Dembele - but was adjudged to have just been offside in the build up.
Due to the lengthy stoppage following Araujo's injury, 11 minutes were added on at the end of the game.
